Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a special treatment designed to activate and cleanse the Lymphatic System.
Lymphatic Drainage was developed in Europe in 1932 by Dr Emil and Estrid Vodder, today the Vodder technique of Lymphatic Drainage is widely practiced in clinics and hospitals world wide, this is especially the case in Europe where the Vodder School is founded in Austria.
The Lymphatic System is a network of nodes and vessels that maintain the delicate fluid balance between tissue and blood. Lymphatic drainage is performed at a slow, rhythmical and very light touch, due to the lymph vessels located just under the skin. The slow and rhythmical touch facilitates the parasympathetic nervous system this relaxed calm state promotes lymph flow.
