Manual Lymphatic Drainage Testimonials

Head and Neck

Neck operation lymph node removal:

I had my submandibular gland removed which turned out to have a stone embedded in the duct which caused a very aggressive infection. Five days after the first operation I developed an abscess in my throat where the abscess seeped out of the wound and another operation was undertaken.

Four weeks later I developed another abscess in my throat where yet a 3rd operation was undertaken. Five weeks later and a constant hole in my throat which was seeping puss and blood on and off, a new doctor advised after ongoing tests that the first doctor had actually cut my gland in half rather than removing it altogether, leaving half the gland and the stone inside my throat which allowed the infection to spread.

The fourth operation I had the rest of the gland and the stone removed but due to so many operations the nerves to my tongue and mouth were and still are damaged. I developed a cavity in my throat which was constantly filling with fluid particularly in the mornings due to the lack of drainage on that side of my throat/ face.

I went to Teresa who suggested that Lymphatic drainage may assist not only the appearance of the scar but the removal of the build-up of fluid and repairing the cavity. After 5 weekly sessions the cavity has now closed up and the fluid build-up in that area is very minimal. The scar has also flattened and softened with the redness decreasing each week.

I was very surprised and relieved at the speedy recovery, especially after being told it could take up to 6 months. I still have issues with my tongue but I am feeling a million times better and the swelling is very minimal in that area these days. I will be recommending this type of therapy to everyone in a similar situation.

Acne Problems:
I am so thankful to Teresa for suggesting that I try out the lymphatic drainage massage for my acne. My skin always used to be inflamed before and after few back to back session of the massage we could see a visible difference on my face and the inflammation reduced to the level that my face didn’t look red any more. I wish we had taken the before and after pictures. I would recommend others who have similar issues to try the lymphatic drainage massage as it will help with the healing process much faster.”

After falling down a flight of stairs and breaking a rib I came to see Teresa the next day. I had terrible bruising and swelling around the ribs, after 3 treatments of lymph drainage both had dramatically subsided. This helped me breathe better and relieved the pain around my ribs.

Coccydynia:
I spent several years unsuccessfully trying various therapies to treat coccydynia, Then I discovered the Vodder method of Manual Lymphatic Drainage. This technique is used widely to treat a number of problems including chronic inflammatory conditions.

With Teresa’s unwavering support, an intensive and maintenance therapy program was designed. I am delighted with the results, with my thanks to Teresa I encourage others to consider Dr Vodder method of Manual Lymphatic Drainage as a treatment option.

Cycling Accident Haematoma (Corked Thigh):

Thank you so much for your assistance with the swelling in my left thigh …

I was involved in a cycling accident while commuting to work which resulted in a hard landing onto the corner of a gutter. Unfortunately my left thigh took most of the force which resulted in severe bruising and swelling that was not fully appreciated until I arrived to work and could barely walk, let alone sit for extended periods of time.

I was recommended to see Teresa for Lymphatic Drainage to reduce the swelling and fast track my recovery. I saw Teresa the following day, by which time both the swelling and bruising had progressively worsened. Teresa was an absolute delight and made me feel extremely comfortable and her analysis of my situation was impeccable.

Teresa began the Lymphatic Drainage on the first session and the results were to my surprise astonishing. My leg felt extremely lighter and the swelling after the first session reduced significantly. I had a follow up session a few days later that resulted in a complete reduction in swelling as well as the bruising, which I no doubt attribute to the Lymphatic Drainage work that Teresa was doing.

Within a week I was back on the bike and my leg felt as good as new … I now see Teresa once a month for Remedial Massages to assist with muscle cramping and stretching

I highly commend your professionalism and services and would recommend both Lymphatic Drainage and Remedial Massages to anyone that requires it

Again, my sincere gratitude for all the work you have and continue to do

Ankle Fracture Surgery:
“At the start of 2005 I fractured my left ankle resulting in emergency surgery with two plates and 12 screws being inserted to structurally fix the fracture. Post surgery I was unable to regain full movement of my ankle and suffered from significant swelling and pain, as a result of this the decision was taken to remove the plates and screws in December 2006.

A few months prior to surgery my Physiotherapist recommended that I seek treatment from Teresa to assist with the swelling to ensure I went into surgery in the best possible condition. Teresa used lymphatic drainage (LD) on my ankle with great success, after only a few sessions the swelling had reduced dramatically and the swelling reduction was permanent. Post surgery Teresa commenced treatment immediately and the swelling was kept to a minimum. I am happy to say that I now have full movement in my ankle and treatment is only required post long haul flights

Teresa is the consummate professional and is extremely focused on getting results, yet provides a personal and tailored service. I would have no hesitation in recommending her either for LD or general remedial sports massage.”

Chronic Leg Pain:
I suffered from excruciating pain in both my legs for nearly 6 months before finding Teresa at The Movement Clinic. Previously I’d had vein surgery (laser and otherwise) on both legs but after several ultrasounds in consultation with my vein surgeon, the cause of my chronic leg pain was still unknown. I had also visited numerous GPs to no avail.

I had been suffering from tonsillitis for some months when I first saw Teresa for Lymphatic Drainage Massage. After treatments over the course of several weeks I gained a great deal of relief and the chronic leg pain lessened. Regular treatments have helped in keeping my leg pain at bay.

Teresa was fantastic in not only providing me with lymphatic drainage massage, but looking at the body holistically – educating me in why my body was aching and also guiding me in my general health. She was instrumental in discovering that not only did I have tonsillitis, but I was suffering from Glandular Fever too.

Teresa’s ability to not just treat the symptoms, but to search for the cause of the ailment and treat the body as a whole, has benefited me immensely and enabled me to regain my health and return to work.

Peripheral Neuropathy caused by chronic long term disease:

I suffer from a chronic long term disease which causes peripheral neuropathy of the feet and lower legs, i am also a type two diabetic (insulin dependent).  I have virtually no feeling or sensation in my feet, also due to poor circulation from my ankles to my knees i am a dark redish colour, while my upper legs are normal.

When i first came to see Teresa i new there was no cure for this, but i was desperate to see if i could get some feeling back into my feet and actually be able to feel my toes wiggle.

Teresa wanted to see which method worked best for me lymphatic drainage or a combination of remedial massage and lymphatic drainage, i found the latter was more successful on my lower legs and feet.  Now when i move my toes i can actually feel them, the colour has returned and i no longer have two toned legs, Teresa used manual lymphatic drainage on my legs only and remedial massage on my feet, due to the plantar fascia issues i have been having.

During our sessions i told her about the other medical problems that i have consisting of severe bone degeneration in my lower back and across my hips as a result of this i have nerve issues in my right hip, tendon issues and muscle cramps in my buttock area.

I have been in extreme pain and can only walk a short distance and use a cane for support and balance, when i go to bed at night my leg has muscle spasms and will jerk violently which causes me sleep deprivation, my doctor prescribed me  7 Panadol a day, Tremadol a night plus sleeping pills (sometimes Oxycondone if pain is really bad).

The down side of taking all this medication is that i suffer from constant constipation, manual lymphatic drainage has made a huge difference as i now have a complete evacuation after the sessions and the effect lasts for up to 5 days after treatment.  With all that is going on Teresa has had to work out a treatment program that will give me as much relief as possible.

Remedial massage into the hips, manual lymphatic drainage only on the legs and stomach has made a big difference, i now only take 4-5 pain killers a night, some nights none at all, spasms in my leg have dramatically decreased, i am now able to sleep better and walking more smoothly and further.  I still carry the walking cane but only for peace of mind and sometimes stability.

My doctor is very happy with the difference in my legs especially the peripheral neuropathy and the reduced pain, and requested that i continue with the treatment plan.

I know the sessions i am getting from Teresa are not a cure but they have improved my quality of life.

Race Recovery, training for Iron Man:

I have been attending The Movement Clinic over the last 2 years to assist with my sports related performance and recovery.

A combination of both remedial massage and lymphatic drainage has ensured I am at my peak performance during intense “pre race” training programs, as well as assisting in post event recovery for multiple Marathon and Ironman events.

This treatment has greatly assisted in reducing recovery timeframes after my endurance events and enabled me to get back to training sooner.
In 2012 I was hospitalized for an acute case of pneumonia whilst training for an event. The lymphatic drainage provided by The Movement Clinic was an important part of aiding the recovery process and ensuring that my lungs were restored back to excellent health.

Health Issues:
“I first started seeing Teresa in 2008. I had reoccurring issues with my back and was under a lot of stress so my body wasn’t in the best condition. Since undertaking her massage services and lymphatic drainage (LD) my overall health has improved dramatically. Not only am I at a stage where I no longer have health issues, I still see her on a proactive and preventative manner.  I’ve had other added benefits from her treatments such as improved hay fever and clear skin since trying LD. I must admit I wasn’t overly confident with this approach initially as I’d never heard about it before but I can assure you that all changed when I saw the health benefits. Teresa is always professional and by far the best holistic professional I’ve been to and subsequently, I regularly refer anyone I know who is struggling with a health condition. She’s results driven and tailors her approach to the individual. She listens and her service is by far the best I’ve experienced in both Australia and Canada health industries. I would not hesitate in recommending her and trust her with my health implicitly.”
